Bulk Download Assets from Search for all users
As the search on Brandworkz has steadily improved, one thing that was still missing was the ability for end-users to bulk download assets from the search listing, not anymore. As of 8.6.3, all users can select assets and download them directly from the search listing page. As users can have different download permissions for various folders, we’ve added a handy count next to the download option so you can see how many of the selected assets can be downloaded using each download type.
Asset Alerting improvements
Asset Alerting is a great way to let your users know what’s new on your portal, as well as what’s about to expire and should no longer be used. However, there are certain assets/folders you don’t want users to be alerted to even if users have access to those folders/assets, such as workflow assets.
As of this release, assets uploaded to a workflow project will only be alerted on if/when the approved assets have been moved to the DAM area and, if applied, the publish date has passed.
Also, if there are other folders you don’t want to send alerts for, you can now add their ID to this updated field over in Preferences: “Exclude these categoryIDs from search results and asset alerts”. You can also see which folders have been excluded on the updated asset alerting page (see below).
On a related note, all unpublished workflow assets are now also excluded from search results for non-sysadmins.
Album Reporting Improvements
Following on from our last release, we’ve added some more information to the reporting feature for albums. As well as being able to see who is sharing what with whom, we’ve now added information around the assets in the albums. If you scroll to the bottom of the album tab in reports, you can now see the top 100 assets downloaded from an album, who has downloaded from albums, as well as transforms used.
As well as adding to the albums tab, there is a new tab called Embeds. Here you can see information on which assets have been embedded into other applications. Select “Web” from the Embed type filter to see which assets have been embedded into other sites using the embed link feature. If you are using our connectors, such as the WordPress connector, you can filter by CMS to see which assets have been used on your WordPress site.
AI Keywords in the Bulk & Single Edit
If you are a user of the auto-generated AI keywords functionality on the single edit screen, you’ll be happy to know it’s now been added to the bulk edit tagging screen as well. Simply click on the wand in the keyword column to generate keywords for all assets in the bulk edit screen.
We also made an update when adding tags manually. If adding multiple keywords simultaneously, they no longer need to be comma-separated, simply type your word(s) and then press enter after each one. In addition, you no longer need to select/deselect the keywords in a pop-up in single edit mode. Now they will auto-fill when you hit the magic wand, and you can use the left arrow key to navigate backwards through the keywords to select them. Once selected, you can delete them by hitting the “Delete” button on your keyboard, as there will invariably be some false keywords through the AI. Otherwise, you can click the x on the keyword in both single and bulk edit mode to delete it. If you find you get many false keywords or too many or want to stop certain words from being generated, some new settings in the Preference section will help with this. You can set the number of keywords to be returned, add any words that should not be returned and established a confidence rating.
Tooltips in the Bulk Edit screen
Another request we had for the bulk edit screen was to show tooltips if they have been added to custom fields. We have added these tooltips in this release.
“Remove All” button for temporary selection
Judging by the insights on our Product Portal, something missing for many of you was the ability to remove all assets added to the side panel in one go. No longer do you need to click each asset to remove it, thanks to the “Remove All” button in the top right of the panel.
Embed Link Popup
While you all love the embed functionality, some of you wanted just to get the link without the code. So there are now two buttons on the popup. Copy Code does the same as the previous button and an added Copy Link Only button, giving you just the CDN link to the asset.
Bug Fixes and small improvements
- Some users could register without fully adhering to the password complexity, which then caused issues when updating the user’s profile.
- Some assets missing metadata would then stop other asset metadata from loading in the album.
- When creating an embed link set to be an original, the description was showing incorrectly as (fit within 100px x 100px). This has been corrected.
- When sharing assets that were shortcuts and with more than one version had been renamed, the user would receive an error message.
- Creating a share-link for a shortcut with more than one version and those versions with name changes would result in an error.
- On some occasions, very large assets took a little longer to transform, resulting in no download. We have increased the wait time to allow for this.
- Some users found they could not create new folders even though they had the correct permission if they were in several groups with conflicting permissions and those groups were added in a specific order. This should now be resolved.
- The Preference page has been simplified, and more tooltips are added to help the user fully understand the impact of making changes to some settings.
Future releases
As part of our improved prioritisation process, our minor releases (8.x.x), such as this one, focus on addressing minor improvements and ideas with a significant impact on the majority of our clients. These releases will primarily be based on the feedback and insights we receive on the Product portal, which you can access from your admin settings area. Please let us know what is important to you via the portal to ensure we release features that most of you value!
Our more significant releases (8.x) will continue to focus on larger pieces of functionality and significant improvements to the technology stack.
We are also working on something very exciting concerning managing your brand elements centrally and ensuring brand consistency in your documents. We will reveal more soon on this.
Coming hot on the heels of 8.6.3 will be the MS Office connector. The connector will allow users to insert assets directly from your DAM into their MS Office documents without the need to download them first. Again, if this is something you are interested in, please speak to your account manager.
